We all love a great song or two. In fact, we’ve got 7 sleeping themed tracks for you that really hit the spot. So if you like them, why not add them to your playlist?

Kero Kero Bonito – I’d Rather Sleep

Although being incredibly depressing if you read into the lyrics a certain way, Kero Kero Bonito’s ‘I’d Rather Sleep‘ is an absolute jam.

The track was popularised very recently by the likes of TikTok and it catapulted the track to stardom.

Sarah Bonito (the lead singer) sings about going to sleep to fantasize about being a kid again, simply because adulthood puts you out of place in society, in her eyes.

If you liked this track, make sure to check out the rest of KKB’s music, as they are definitely worth the listen.

Faithless – Insomnia

Faithless’ ‘Insomnia‘ is a certified UK club classic.

The song was so successful in fact, that it topped the charts in Finland, Switzerland and Norway, as well as landing on a fantastic spot of #3 on the UK charts, from 1995 to 1997.

Insomnia‘ sees Maxi Jazz rap about suffering from sleepless nights, although in personal experiences, this was not due to insomnia, but in fact because he suffered a dental abscess and could not sleep due to the pain.

The track was recorded in his bandmate’s shed, which ultimately led to Faithless’ explosion onto the electronic music scene. They really did come from humble beginnings.

The Weeknd – Blinding Lights

If you haven’t heard this track by now, you must of been living under a rock.

The Weeknd burst onto the scene in 2013 with his album ‘Kissland‘ which garnered attention from a lot of rap and RNB fans for it’s slow and sensual tracks, but it wasn’t until 2015, when he released ‘Beauty Behind The Madness‘ when he started to really blow up.

Since then, he’s become one of the biggest musicians on the planet, breaking streaming records and selling out concerts across the world.

Blinding Lights‘ is arguably The Weeknd’s most famous song, garnering over 2 billion streams on Spotify alone.

The track itself talks about the artists sleepless nights, thinking about an ex lover and wanting them by his side. The music video and whole album theme, borrows a lot of inspiration from the 1998 film, ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas‘.

The Wombats – Moving To New York

New York City is the city that never sleeps. So if you’re having trouble sleeping, then why not move to New York?

Although this track actually has nothing to do with sleeping, according to bandmate Dan, the track is actually about an ex-relationship the lead singer had with a Norwegian girl and her ambitions to move together to New York.

Nevertheless, it remains a great sleepless night-based jam for all of you struggling to get some sleep.

Al Green – Dream

Sometimes, we have that one dream that we want to last forever.

Al Green really drives home in this track that he would love to share a dream with a significant loved one.

Tyler, the Creator would go on to sample this track in his 2019 Grammy-winning album, ‘IGOR‘, on ‘ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?‘.

Livin’ Joy – Dreamer

Livin’ Joy was a short-lived 1990s electronic music project by Italian brothers, Paolo and Gianni Visnadi.

On this particular track, however, Janice Robertson provides the stunning vocals of this track, but did you know that this songs vocals are slightly incoherent? This is because the songs lyrics were badly translated from Italian, meaning that you get some great lyrics like “I never learned how to hold love and stay strong to love” and “Please just love me down and never leave me“.

Still, it’s an absolute classic and it’s guaranteed to get your party started.

Jamie xx – Sleep Sound

1/3 of The xx, aka Jamie xx, is known in the electronic music scene as one of the most prolific artists of the 2010s.

His album ‘In Colour‘ created quite the buzz back in the day, with a genuinely unique sound, compared to a lot of electronic musicians back then.

Sleep Sound‘ is one of the singles off that album, sporting a dreamy soundscape and catchy rhythms. If you love instrumental tracks, then you’ll definitely like this one.
